Remaking the Movie
Small, lightweight cameras, instant playback of footage and computer
controlled camera rigs, promise the ability to reinvent the process
of making films. Can the editing process merge with the shoot? Can
improvisation become part of the art of the camera operator, editor
and director as well as the actor?
Could a single person perform all of these roles with the assistance
of computer software and newly developed hardware? This project
would consider the work-flow of the film making process and how
new technology could enhance or transform this process. A detailed
HCI analysis of this process would comprise part of the project.
Other parts of the project may be the development of new hardware
and software to realise new-work flows and film making techniques.
A short film developed with your new techniques would be an ideal
project deliverable. Winning Tropfest is desirable but
not mandatory.
